For the everyday family. Not the foodie.

Most apps in this category are built for people who don't think twice about a $13-a-meal kit. We're building for the rest of us — the working- and middle-class families squeezed harder every year, juggling two jobs and three pickup times, getting talked into expensive takeout because nobody had a plan and nobody had energy to make one.

Plento Pasto is the inversion of that bargain. You tell us your kitchen. You tell us your budget. We plan around both. Five real dinners. Print the list or shop in-app — your call. Less than what you're already spending.

Plenty + meal. Plento. Pasto. Grazie mille.

Two things meal-kits can't do.

Meal-kits set the price; you adjust your life around it. They ship duplicate ingredients you already own. We flip both. The family declares the budget and the kitchen. Plento Pasto plans to it.

AI Kitchen Scan

Your phone scans the fridge. We plan around what's already there.

Open a cupboard. Snap a photo. We see the half-jar of pesto, the rice, the chicken stock you forgot about — and plan the week around it. Meal-kits ship you ingredients you already own. We don't.

Spend cap

You set the budget. We plan the week to it.

Tell us $60, $90, $150 — whatever this week calls for. Plento Pasto plans a real five-dinner menu to land under that number. Cheaper weeks, smaller bills — and you see the estimated total up front, before you shop.

Family ratings

The whole table votes — and the menu listens.

One thumbs-up or thumbs-down per person per meal. Over time the plan learns the flavors your family loves and leans toward them. Less arguing about dinner. More dinners they actually eat.

Anti-waste planning

We plan around what's about to spoil — so it doesn't.

Most weeks, good food dies in the back of the fridge. Plento Pasto builds your dinners around what's closest to expiring, uses what's already in your kitchen first, and right-sizes portions so you're not buying a 24-oz steak for two. Less food in the trash — and less money with it.

The math is the point.

The average American family spends $3,000+ a year on takeout and fast food. Most of those meals were ordered because nobody had a plan. Plento Pasto's job is to put more of that money back in your pocket, more food on your table, and more time in your evening. Plenty without the price tag.

How we make money. (And how we don't.)

Plento Pasto is built on a deliberate, plain-English business model. We think you should know exactly how it works before you sign up for anything.

Free forever

The free tier is a real product.

Weekly meal planning, AI Kitchen Scan, family ratings, spend cap, full recipe search across our entire 10,000+ library — yours, free, no credit card. Plus subscribers fund the free tier today. No ads, no data sales, no upsells you can't ignore. Just families helping families.

Plus — $5/month

Plus is for when you want dinner your way.

The saving is already free. Plus is the layer that makes the week effortless and personal — anchor your plan to the dishes you're actually craving, swap any meal in a tap, unlock bonus recipes, sync your week to the family calendar, and shop an aisle-sorted list you check off as you go. If Plus isn't pulling its weight for your family in a given month, just reach out — the next one's on us.

No ads. Ever.

We will never run ads in Plento Pasto.

Working families get advertised at constantly — by delivery apps, by fast food chains, by payday lenders. We won't be one of them. No banners, no interstitials, no "sponsored recipes," no data sales to ad networks. This is a commitment, not a marketing claim.

Your data stays yours

What's in your fridge is your business.

Kitchen-scan photos are sent to our AI partner (Anthropic) only to identify what's in them, then deleted from our servers within 24 hours — we keep just the item list, never the photo, and Anthropic doesn't use it to train its models. Your photos, your pantry, your shopping habits, your family's preferences are never sold, never handed to advertisers, never given to data brokers. Your data is the cost of using most apps. Not this one.

Questions we keep getting.

How do I get the app?

It's live now. Download Plento Pasto free on the App Store (iPhone) — Android is coming soon. Prefer the web? Free recipe search is open to everyone, no signup, at app.plentopasto.com/recipes.

How is this different from HelloFresh or Blue Apron?

Different customer, different math. HelloFresh and Blue Apron sell premium meal kits to households who can absorb $80–$140 a week for four dinners. We don't. Plento Pasto plans the week around your kitchen and your budget — the average week comes in well under what a comparable meal-kit week would cost, and uses the food you already own instead of duplicating it. We're built for the everyday family the kits price out.

How does pricing work?

One simple split, no confusing ladders. The free tier is a real product — weekly meal planning, AI Kitchen Scan, family ratings, spend cap, and full recipe search, free for everyone with no credit card. Plus is $5/month for the foodie extras — cravings, swaps, bonus recipes, the family calendar. That's it.

Do you handle dietary restrictions and allergies?

Yes — first-class. You set allergies and dietary needs for each person during onboarding (and anytime in Settings) — allergies are treated as hard constraints, and every generated recipe runs an allergen-safety validator before it lands on your plan. Built-in options cover the common allergens plus vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, low-sodium, low-sugar, GLP-1-friendly, pregnancy-safe, halal, and kosher. We also match cooking skill and time so the plan fits the week you actually have. Need something we don't list yet? Tell us in the app and we'll prioritize it.

How do I actually shop the list?

Every plan exports as a printable shopping list, organized by aisle category — take it to your usual grocery, pay sticker price, done. Plus members get the interactive in-app version, sorted by your specific store's actual aisle layout, with items you tap to check off as you shop. Direct grocery-delivery handoff is on our roadmap and will light up when our partner platforms reopen to new app integrations.

How many recipes does Plento Pasto have?

10,000+ recipes — breakfast through dessert, across cuisines from American comfort food to Filipino adobo to Persian tahdig. The library covers weeknight dinners (the bulk, family-friendly by design), full holiday spreads (Thanksgiving / Christmas / Easter / Hanukkah / 4th of July), baking (sourdough through cinnamon rolls), real desserts (cookies, cakes, pies, custards), snacks, and drinks. Free recipe search across the full library is available to everyone — no signup required — at app.plentopasto.com/recipes.

How does Plento Pasto make money?

Today, Plus subscriptions ($5/month) — that's it. No ads, no "sponsored recipes," no data sales. Honest heads-up: down the road, when our grocery-delivery handoff goes live, we may earn a small commission on orders you choose to place — never a markup on your groceries, and never required. Plus pays for the free tier — families helping families.

What is the savings guarantee, exactly?

Everyone — free and Plus — gets a "Your Plento Pasto savings this month" surface that estimates what you've saved by cooking at home instead of ordering out, compared to a baseline you set at onboarding. We don't promise a specific dollar amount — actual grocery and takeout costs vary by household, store, and region. The Plus guarantee is simple risk-reversal: if your savings in a given month don't beat the $5 Plus fee, just email us and that month's on us. If it stops being worth it, you stop paying. That's the deal.

Will you ever run ads in the app?

No. This is a commitment, not a marketing claim. Working families are already advertised at constantly by takeout services, fast food chains, BNPL companies, and predatory lenders. We don't think the meal-planning app for the everyday family should be one more place that happens. Plento Pasto will not be ad-supported, will not sell user data, and will not run "sponsored recipes" disguised as content. If we ever change this, we'd refund every Plus member who joined under this commitment.

What does "Plento Pasto" mean?

Plento evokes plentiful and abundant — the answer to "we can't afford that." Pasto is Italian for "a meal." Together: plentiful meal. Pronounced plen-toh PAH-stoh.

Where's the company based?

Illinois, US. We're Plento Pasto LLC — a husband-and-wife founding team. Your receipt comes from the LLC entity, with payouts to our business bank account.
